Our History
Haul Master® was founded in 1979 by a group of engineers and automotive enthusiasts who saw a need in the market for reasonably priced hauling equipment. In those early days, we operated out of a small warehouse in Los Angeles, manufacturing just a handful of products like receiver hitches, cargo carriers, and trailer jacks.
As word spread about our well-made and wallet-friendly gear, demand grew rapidly. By 1985, we had moved to a larger facility and expanded our catalog to over 50 products, including truck bed racks, trailer couplers, and our first loading ramps.
Over the next decade, Haul Master® continued to grow as we refined our operations and forged partnerships with major retailers across the country. By the mid-90s, our roof racks, tow straps, tie downs, and other accessories could be found at thousands of stores nationwide.
The early 2000s brought further expansion, with new product lines for the booming ATV and powersports markets. We opened additional warehouses and achieved ISO 9001 certification for our focus on quality manufacturing processes.
Today, Haul Master® operates four state-of-the-art production plants and has grown to become America’s #1 brand for DIY and professional hauling gear. Our catalog contains over 300 products designed, tested and manufactured in-house to meet the highest standards.
Our Facility
Our corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing campus is located just outside Los Angeles in the city of Ontario, California. This 150,000 sq. ft. facility houses our executive offices, R&D labs, primary production lines, and shipping/distribution center.
The Ontario plant employs over 500 people and produces many of our most popular products, including receiver hitches, wiring harnesses, trailer jacks, tow straps, and cargo carriers. State-of-the-art machinery and ISO 9001 certified processes allow us to efficiently manufacture high-quality gear to meet growing customer demand.
We also operate three additional manufacturing plants:
- Riverside, CA – Manufactures wheel ramps, trolleys, specialty receiver hitches
- Phoenix, AZ – Manufactures truck bed racks, ladder racks, tie downs
- Gainesville, FL – Manufactures roof racks, tow hitches, winches
Together, our manufacturing facilities have a combined production capacity of over 5 million units per year. We are proud to employ over 1,200 skilled workers across the country dedicated to making innovative hauling accessories affordable for our customers.

We also place a heavy focus on U.S. manufacturing. By controlling the end-to-end development and production processes, we can closely monitor quality and quickly adapt manufacturing to optimize each product design. Our ISO 9001 certified factories utilize the latest fabrication machinery and efficient production workflows to build our hauling accessories right here in America.
